An important aspect for a successful eFiling solution is in its ability to easily integrate into other key components, such as Case Management Solutions, Document Management Solutions, and other Electronic Service Providers.
NIEM/ECF 4.0 has most recently become the industry principle; standardizing the data descriptions, definitions, and transport methods used by all vendors and filers when communicating with the court.

ECF 4.0 architecture consists of four Major Design Elements (MDE's); Service, Filing Assembly, Filing Review, and Court Records which define the requirements for ECF4.0 compliancy.
